Policy & Elections
The mission of APhA-ASP is to be the collective voice of student pharmacists, to provide
opportunities for professional growth, to improve patient care, and to envision and
advance the future of pharmacy. The APhA-ASP Midyear Regional Meetings (MRM) play a
vital role in developing that collective voice and advancing the future of our
profession through the APhA-ASP Policy Process and the APhA-ASP Regional Officer
elections.

Regional Officer Elections
Interested in serving as a Regional
Officer?
Serving as an APhA-ASP regional officer is rewarding and satisfying, both
professionally and personally. Regional officers who choose to serve their
profession have the personal satisfaction of knowing that they have been elected by
their colleagues to represent them in their national professional association. At
times, serving as a regional officer may be a very demanding job, but the position
is meant to complement, not compete with educational responsibilities. A regional
officer's education always takes a higher priority. APhA-ASP regional officers are
to remain in their first professional degree program during their term of office.
Regional officers occasionally are required to attend meetings and conferences
during the school year. No monetary or material awards are provided to APhA-ASP
regional officers.
Eligibility
Any member of APhA-ASP is eligible to seek nomination for an elected position at the

required to have and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. The available regional officer

- Regional Delegate (RD)

What is the APhA-ASP Policy
Process?
The APhA-ASP Policy Process is one of the most important activities a student
pharmacist member can participate in because it provides you with the opportunity to
influence the direction of the Academy, the Association, and the profession. Policy
development is how we create common goals that advance our profession and ultimately
better serve our patients!
All of the APhA-ASP Adopted Resolutions, everything from provider status to
inter-professional education, began as an idea brought forth by individual members.
Visit the APhA-ASP Policy Process for a full overview from start to finish.
MRM Policy Process Timeline
The One Chapter...One Resolution process provides each APhA-ASP Chapter the
opportunity to bring one of their members’ ideas forward to the APhA-ASP
MRM. Brainstorm what problems you encounter at school, work, or on rotations. Do you
feel that your curriculum is preparing you for a successful career after graduation?
What patient care services would you like to provide?
Each APhA-ASP Chapter will have the opportunity to propose one resolution on behalf
of their members. APhA-ASP Policy Process Timeline:
- October 10: Deadline to register
APhA-ASP Chapter Delegate and submit two policy topic ideas to the
Regional Delegate
- October 9 - 12: APhA-ASP Regional Policy Discussion
- Each APhA-ASP Region will host an open forum for chapters to present
their two best ideas for resolution statements and student pharmacists
to discuss the topics that will shape the future of the profession. All
student pharmacists are welcome to attend the sessions.
