University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill PGY1 Community-based Pharmacy Residency Program

• The PGY1 Community-based Pharmacy Residency Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was established in 2000. It is one of the oldest accredited residency programs of its kind in the nation. Our PGY1 Community-based Pharmacy Residency Program will prepare you to be an innovative clinical practitioner who can be a leader in the profession. You will have the skills, confidence, and experience to create change and advance patient care services in community-based (outpatient) settings. Our program includes a variety of innovative sites across the state of North Carolina in independent, chain, supermarket, college health, ambulatory care, free and underserved clinic and public health department settings. Each site is centered around a community pharmacy that focuses on providing medication management, health and wellness services, immunizations, disease state management, and care transitions services

Phil Lambda Sigma

• The purpose of Phi Lambda Sigma, also known as the national Pharmacy Leadership Society, is to promote the development of leadership qualities, especially among pharmacy students. By peer recognition, the Society encourages participation in all pharmacy activities. Since membership crosses fraternal and organizational lines, the Society does not compete with other pharmacy organizations.

University of Iowa PGY1 Community-based Pharmacy Residency Program

• The PGY1 Community-based Pharmacy Residency Program offered by The Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science at The University of Iowa College of Pharmacy is designed to assist graduate pharmacists in developing specialized clinical skills in the community pharmacy practice setting. Established in 1997, the residency is a collaboration of the College and innovative practice sites, and longest continually accredited community residency in nation. The program currently offers five PGY1 Community-based Resident positions at five unique community-based practice sites in Eastern Iowa. Residents will spend two-thirds of their time providing patient care services in the community pharmacy or other ambulatory care settings. Residents participate in the Pharmacy Educator Preparation Program for Residents (PEPPR) to learn teaching philosophy and techniques and can apply those skills in educating Doctor of Pharmacy students, other health care providers, and patients. Residents also complete a practice-based research project with the guidance of UI College of Pharmacy Health Service Research Faculty and participate in a peer review writing group with other community residents. Residency program graduates have gone onto clinical practice in community, clinic, and other settings, PGY2 Ambulatory Care positions, academia, ownership and other unique opportunities.

State Association Executive Fellowship

• Come join us and learn about postgraduate training opportunities in Association Management! States including Tennessee, Kentucky, and Iowa will all be available to share more about their programs. State-level executive fellowships are great opportunities to develop your skills in project management, leadership, stakeholder engagement, governance, and more.

Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters

• Pharmacists play an essential role in the care of children at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD). Clinical pharmacists are viewed as invaluable members of patient care teams and hospital committees. Pharmacy residents are members of the Department of Pharmacy, where they gain expertise through exposure to a broad range of clinical services.

American Pharmacists Association

• Description: The APhA Executive Postgraduate Training Program includes four residency positions—Board of Pharmacy Specialties (1), Practice & Government Affairs (1), and Education (2)—and a fellowship position (1). The program is designed to challenge motivated individuals who have ambitions to contribute towards advancement of the pharmacy profession. The residents and fellow work on high impact projects, representing APhA's members and developing their leadership skills alongside many pharmacy leaders during their one-year term with the association.

Board of Pharmacy Specialties

• The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) was established in 1976 as an autonomous division of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). The mission of the Board of Pharmacy Specialties is to improve patient care and increase awareness of the need for BPS Board Certified Pharmacists as integral members of multidisciplinary healthcare teams through recognition and promotion of specialized training, knowledge, and skills in pharmacy and specialty board certification and recertification of pharmacists throughout the world.
  Board Certification through BPS has become recognized as the gold standard for determining which pharmacists are qualified to contribute at advanced practice levels. Through the rigorous standards mandated by BPS board certification and recertification, the BPS board certified pharmacist stands out as the most qualified to accept today’s expanding professional expectations. • The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is the nation's first, most trusted, and only nonprofit pharmacy technician credentialing organization. Founded on the guiding principle that pharmacy technicians play a critical role in advancing medication and patient safety, PTCB has established the universal standard of excellence for those supporting patient care teams through offering the industry's most-recognized credentials, including the PTCB certification for Certified Pharmacy Technicians (CPhTs).
